Behavior Expectations

Children are expected to either actively participate or observe by sitting quietly to the side. It is not permissible to play with objects found in the classroom; we are borrowing the space from the school and must respect that. Behavior that distracts the other children from the class activity is also not permissible.

For this age group some misbehavior is expected and can be an indication that the class is not the right fit for the child at their stage of development; if a child is distracted, the teacher will attempt to re-engage the child in the class activities, or a monitor may sit with the child. A parent will be asked to retrieve their child from the classroom if the child repeatedly tries to leave the classroom or continues undesirable behavior despite attempts at redirection.

Any parents in the classroom are expected to help with the class activities or supervise children that are not participating. Socializing, in-person or on the phone, is not allowed in the classroom during class. Parents who wish to socialize should sit in the playroom instead.
